Our Walnut boards with tree edge and edged on one side, are lovingly handcrafted from high-quality solid wood. It is a purely natural product, which we manufacture from one piece solid walnut - just as the trunk has grown. This gives each piece its individual character and rustic charm. The typical characteristics of walnut wood are preserved and may be present:
- naturally curved tree edges
- vivid grain
- dark brown to black-violet colouring
- splint wood white to pink-grey
- strong colour difference between sapwood and heartwood
- structure with almost silky sheen
Dimensions: length: at choice / thickness: approx. 25 mm / depth: approx. 15 cm.
Surface treatment: at choice raw, oiled or lacquered.
Due to the naturally curved tree edge, the depth of the board may vary by +/- 3cm. Likewise, the thickness may vary minimally.
Walnut is a very robust wood, with a hard surface and long durability. This makes it ideal for a wide range of applications in outdoor and indoor areas. This natural wood product brings natural character. At the same time, each piece has its own individual appearance. Due to the vivid grain and the slightly shiny surface, you get a product that is particularly decorative and noble. Each shelf is unique and is manufactured to order.
Application:
The product is neither pre-drilled nor prepared for special fastening material or supports. This allows it to be used universally for a wide variety of applications and your creative projects such as wall shelving, window sills, etc.
Processing / Treatment:
Hardwood can be worked easily and cleanly with conventional tools. For nails and screws it is recommended to pre-drill
The chosen surface treatment:
Rough surface: You can finish the untreated surface as you wish afterwards, by staining, oiling, glazing or varnishing.
Oiled surface: A treatment with wood oil intensifies the grain and the impression, the surface appears warmer. The oil also protects the wood, making it more resistant to dust, dirt and moisture. The wood retains its naturalness and remains breathable. The natural structure and grain of the wood even come into their own as a result.
Varnished surface: An additional varnish of the surface, offers optimal protection against dust, moisture and sunlight. The natural structure and grain of the wood are completely preserved.
Note: Ferrous metals in combination with moisture cause blue-grey discolouration in walnut wood, so insensitive fasteners and fittings are required.
