Our rustic oak waney edge boards with a waney edge on both sides are unedged, debarked and planed on one side. It is a pure natural product made from a single piece of solid oak exactly as the trunk has grown. Each piece has its own character and gives a special look with its rustic appearance. All the typical characteristics of oak wood are retained, making each board unique:
Naturally curved wane edges
Light-colored sapwood at the edges
Light to dark brown heartwood
Unique grain and color
Characteristic wood grain and knots
Natural cracks and wormholes for an authentic look

Since each board is cut from a grown tree trunk, the width can vary between 25 and 30 cm. In addition, due to the natural characteristics, deviations of +/- 3 cm in the total width are possible. Likewise, the thickness and length may differ slightly however, the ordered length will never be exceeded.
Material:
Oak is a very stable hardwood with a robust surface and high durability. This makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor use. The surface is untreated and emphasizes the natural character of the wood. The vivid grain, natural cracks, knotholes and wormholes create a rustic and authentic appearance.
The oak wood is technically dried to about 8-12% moisture content, which makes it free of pests and vermin. The boards are unedged, debarked and planed on one side. The downward-facing wane side is planed.

Processing and treatment:
Hardwood can be processed cleanly with conventional tools. The untreated surface can be individually finished by staining, oiling, glazing or varnishing. We particularly recommend suitable constructive wood protection for outdoor areas.
Note: To avoid warping of the wood, surface treatment should always be carried out on all sides.
