Our ash boards with tree edge and edged on one side, are lovingly handcrafted from high-quality solid wood. It is a purely natural product, which we manufacture from one piece solid ash wood - just as the trunk has grown. This gives each piece its individual character and rustic charm. The typical properties of ash wood are preserved and may be present:
- naturally curved tree edges
- bright wood with Nordic clarity
- broad, white to slightly yellowish sapwood.
- heartwood sometimes darker
- unique and strong grain
- frequent marbled markings
Dimensions: length: at choice / thickness: approx. 4 cm / depth: approx. 20 cm.
Surface treatment: at choice raw, oiled or varnished.
Due to the naturally curved construction edge, the depth of the board may vary by +/- 3cm. The thickness may also vary minimally.
Ash is a very stable wood, with hard surface and long durability. This makes it ideally suited for a wide variety of applications in interiors. Each piece has its own individual appearance. The vivid grain, cracks and knots give you a product with decorative and authentic look.
The ash wood is technically dried to approx. 8-12% and therefore free from vermin and pests. The solid wood boards are dressed on one side. The downward-facing tree edge side is planed and sanded. The tree edges are debarked and sanded over. Each shelf is unique and is made to order.
Application:
The product is neither pre-drilled nor prepared for special fastening material or supports. This allows it to be used universally for a wide variety of applications and your creative projects such as wall shelving, window sills, etc.
Treatment:
Hardwood can be machined easily and cleanly with conventional tools.
The surface treatment chosen:
Rough surface:You can subsequently finish the untreated surface as you wish, by staining, oiling, glazing or lacquering.
Oiled surface: Treatment with wood oil intensifies the natural ash tone, the surface appears warmer. The oil also protects the wood, making it more resistant to dust, dirt and moisture. The wood retains its naturalness and remains breathable. The natural structure and grain of the wood even come into their own as a result.
Varnished surface: An additional varnish on the surface, offers optimal protection against dust, moisture and sunlight. The natural structure and grain of the ash wood are fully preserved.
